Psychological therapy via telehealth

Ruhe Psychology provides individual psychological therapy with Bryan Peck, Registered Psychologist.

Sessions are currently provided by telehealth only, offering flexible access to psychological support from a private and safe space of your choice.

Therapy is available for:

  • adults

  • adolescents

  • children from 8 years of age

For children and adolescents, parent or guardian involvement and consent will be considered as clinically appropriate.

What I can help with

Ruhe Psychology may be suitable for people experiencing mild to moderate concerns, including:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • stress and burnout

  • grief and loss

  • adjustment difficulties

  • trauma-related stress

  • loneliness or isolation

  • chronic pain adjustment

  • body image or disordered eating concerns, where appropriate for outpatient telehealth support

  • substance use concerns, where appropriate for outpatient telehealth support

Therapy focuses on helping you better understand what is happening, what may be contributing to the difficulty, and what practical strategies may help in daily life.

Therapy approach

My work is formulation-focused, which means we work together to understand your current concerns in context rather than simply focusing on symptoms alone.

Core approaches include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

  • collaborative formulation

  • practical skills-based psychological support

  • holistic understanding of thoughts, emotions, behaviour, relationships, body responses, values, and coping patterns

Therapy may involve talking about current concerns, life history, emotions, thoughts, behaviour patterns, relationships, strengths, coping strategies, values, and practical ways to support change.

Telehealth

All sessions are currently provided by telehealth.

For telehealth sessions, you will need:

  • a private and safe space

  • a stable internet connection

  • a device with audio and video

  • enough privacy to speak openly

  • your current location available in case emergency support is required

Telehealth sessions are not suitable while driving, in a public place, or where you cannot speak privately.

Fees and Medicare rebates

Session fee: $173.95
Medicare rebate: $98.95 for eligible clients
Gap: $75

Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral.

Reduced-fee appointments may be available in limited circumstances for clients experiencing significant financial difficulty. These places are limited and can be discussed directly.

Intake and consent

Before your first appointment, you will be asked to complete intake and consent forms. These help ensure therapy can begin safely and appropriately.

The intake process includes information about:

  • your contact details

  • Medicare and referral details

  • emergency contact

  • current concerns

  • relevant mental and physical health history

  • current supports

  • risk and safety information

  • telehealth suitability

  • consent to contact your GP or referrer, where relevant

Confidentiality and privacy

Psychological sessions are confidential, with some legal and ethical limits.

Information may need to be shared if there are serious concerns about safety, child protection concerns, legal requirements, or where you have consented to information being shared.

If you are referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, communication with your GP or referrer may include brief treatment updates, review letters, or information needed for continuity of care. Only relevant information will be shared.

Ruhe Psychology does not use AI note-taking, AI transcription, AI recording, or AI client record storage platforms. Client identifying information are not entered into AI tools.

When another service may be more appropriate

Telehealth psychology is not suitable for every situation.

A more specialised or higher-support service may be needed for:

  • acute risk

  • high-complexity presentations

  • complex eating disorders

  • psychosis

  • bipolar disorder requiring specialist management

  • severe substance dependence

  • trauma presentations requiring intensive multidisciplinary care

If another service appears more appropriate, this can be discussed and, where possible, referral to a more suitable pathway can be supported.

Crisis information

Ruhe Psychology is not a crisis or emergency service.

If you or someone else is at immediate risk, call 000 or attend your nearest emergency department.

  • Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467
