Client Details

Ruhe Psychology currently works with:

  • adults

  • adolescents

  • children from 8 years of age

For children and adolescents, parent or guardian involvement and consent will be considered as clinically appropriate.

Suitable referrals

Ruhe Psychology may be suitable for clients experiencing mild to moderate concerns related to:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • stress and burnout

  • grief and loss

  • adjustment difficulties

  • trauma-related stress

  • loneliness or isolation

  • chronic pain adjustment

  • body image or disordered eating concerns, where appropriate for outpatient telehealth support

  • substance use concerns, where appropriate for outpatient telehealth support

Therapeutic approach

Ruhe Psychology provides individual psychological therapy with a formulation-focused approach.

Core approaches include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

  • collaborative and holistic formulation

  • practical skills-based psychological support

The focus is on helping clients better understand their current difficulties and develop workable strategies for daily life.

Presentations that may require another pathway

Telehealth psychology may not be suitable for all clients.

Referral to a more specialised, intensive, or multidisciplinary pathway is generally recommended for:

  • acute risk

  • high-complexity presentations

  • complex eating disorders

  • psychosis

  • bipolar disorder requiring specialist management

  • severe substance dependence

  • trauma presentations requiring intensive multidisciplinary care

Assessment services

Ruhe Psychology currently provides individual therapy rather than formal assessment services.

At this stage, Ruhe Psychology does not provide:

  • formal diagnostic assessments

  • cognitive assessments

  • educational assessments

  • neurodevelopmental assessments

  • forensic assessments

  • NDIS functional capacity assessments

Fees and rebates

Standard session fee: $173.95
Medicare rebate: $98.95 for eligible clients
Gap: $75

Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral.

Reduced-fee appointments may be available in limited circumstances for clients experiencing significant financial difficulty. Places are limited and can be discussed directly.

Communication with referring GP

Where clients are referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, GP communication may include:

  • confirmation of commencement

  • brief treatment updates

  • review letters

  • re-referral requests where clinically appropriate

  • relevant information to support continuity of care

Only relevant information will be shared.

Crisis and emergency information

Ruhe Psychology is not a crisis or emergency service.

Clients requiring immediate crisis support should be directed to appropriate emergency or crisis services.

In an emergency, clients should call 000.
